Every year LCS staff have the opportunity to apply for grants provided by our Endowment Fund. These awards are made to purchase equipment, supplies and services not available within the regular school budget, for projects benefiting the constituents of Lorain City Schools: students, staff, teachers, parents and the community. This year I am asking for funds to improve the library program throughout the district. The five elementary media clerks serve all the K-6 students in the entire district. I am requesting an access code for each media clerk to an online database of over 500 quality library lesson plans written by a Elementary Library Media Specialist. All lesson plans contain Common Core and AASL Standards. These lesson plans will replace the current coloring sheets, word searches, and crossword puzzles current being offered at most locations. Update January 2016: Project was only approved for one access code. I used it in both of my buildings and it helped build a great foundation for a quality library program at both sites.
